At the Faculty of Economics, the Chair of Information Systems and Information Management has an immediate opening for

a Research Associate (m/f/d) (E 13 TV-G-U)

initially limited until December 31, 2026, with the option of an extension. This is a project-based position within the “TransFair – Development and Design of a Software-Supported Conformity Assessments for Transparent and Fair AI Systems” project, funded by Hessen Agentur GmbH. The salary is determined according to the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable at Goethe University (TV-G-U).

The requirements for this position are:

  • completed degree with excellent grades in Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Computer Science
  • a strong interest in current developments in applied artificial intelligence, platform economics, data science, and/or internet technologies
  • programming skills (Python, R, etc.) are an advantage
  • very good English language skills, both written and spoken
  • very good German language skills
  • independence, teamwork skills, and flexibility
  • experience in corporate practice is also an advantage

In this role, you will contribute to the research focus areas of the Chair. These include applied artificial intelligence (e.g., the Chair is involved in the AI Innovation Competition of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, evaluates user preferences regarding applied AI, and has built a Smart Living platform with companies like Bosch; there are also research projects in collaboration with the university hospital in the area of AI), digital business and ecosystems, data analytics, platform economics, digital business models, digital ethics, and information management.

You will take on academic responsibilities as well as the planning and execution of projects, and you will be able to present your results at national and international conferences. Sufficient time will be made available for your doctoral research and personal research interests.
